Liz Ramirez grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and was the first in her family to attend college. As the first-generation college student, she hoped to pave the way for her siblings and family members. She attended Illinois State University and graduated with her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Spanish and continued at ISU to pursue her Master's degree in College Student Personnel Administration.
Liz has been at the University of Illinois at Chicago for 7 years, starting off as a general advisor for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and most recently as the Assistant Director of Recruitment and Engagement.
She knew since early in her college career that she wanted to work in the field of higher education to help her community, particularly Latinx students avoid or overcome challenges that often come with the transition to college. She is passionate about advocating for students so they could succeed in college and ultimately reach their personal and professional goals.
In her free time, she enjoys bike riding, DIY projects, and exploring new Chicago outdoor events with family and friends.
