UIC Impact and Research Week 2021

L@s GANAS is happy to join in collaboration with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, the Honors College, the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs and Academic Programs, and the Division of Student Affairs to offer FOUR professional development workshops and TWO evenings of research panels.

Monday, April 5th
4 PM Planning for Graduate School Workshop [REGISTER]
Are you thinking of graduate school? Are you interested in a master’s or Ph.D program? Come join our workshop to better understand the application process, requirements, and key points to make a successful application. Open to the UIC community.

Tuesday, April 6th
4 PM “¿Estás bien?- How is your Mental Health?” Workshop [REGISTER]
80% of students feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities while in College. The added stressors this past year due to COVID have exacerbated many fears, anxiety and depression. Join us for a conversation that will cover; psychoeducation, holding space for discussion, tips to improve your emotional health. Open to the UIC community.

Wednesday, April 7th
4 PM Applying to Medical School: You Got This Workshop [REGISTER]
This workshop will provide an overview of what steps students need to take to become competitive applicants for medical school admissions. You will also learn what attributes admissions committees look for in applicants, whether to take a gap year, and resources for preparing to take the MCAT. Open to the UIC community, but limited to 50 participants.

Thursday, April 8th
4 PM Taking a Gap Year: A Year On, Not a Year Off Workshop [REGISTER]

Whether to prepare for a graduate or medical school program or to land their dream career, many students take a gap year after graduating from high school or college. Join us to learn how you can maximize your gap year to make it a year of purpose.

Research Panel registration ends on March 19th. Please read the panel information site and prepare your abstract prior to starting the registration process. You can register for workshops without submitting for a research panel.

Please note that only L@s GANAS affiliated students can present at our research panels.

If you are also an Honors College or CURA student, you are welcomed to present at the time that fits your schedule the best.
